About us
Making a difference - together
Gnosjo Global Association is member financed and creates small, mobile, flexible, and cost-effective health care teams with a focus on women’s health. We travel to locations in need of our competence, health care and education. Where it is needed the most.
The association was established in 2018 to channel resources from those that want to give, directly to those in need. Gnosjo Global works with health care and specifically health connected to women and children. Through a membership or sponsorship, you can be a part of helping people in places you might never visit. You give. We make a difference – together.
Gnosjo Global Association is an organization which creates prerequisites for health for vulnerable people. Our founder Monica Hellström is very passionate about helping others. After dedicating half of her professional life within Swedish health care (and with an interest in volunteering in vulnerable areas), the idea of forming an organization that could help more people was born.
Previous projects
Kenya
Kenswed Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya
At the Kenswed Hospital, Lööf Foundation and Zelmerlöw & Björkman Foundation pursues a health clinic with an initial focus on health for women and children. We have supported them with our knowledge and donated health care material.
Kenya
WayoWayo Kibra in Nairobi, Kenya
The association WayoWayo is supported by us economically. They work with HIV prevention and sexual health in Kibera, which is the largest slum area in Nairobi, with almost one million people. We specifically support Abdul Hussein, a young man who makes the spare time meaningful and easier for many teenagers and young adults in Kibera, by offering football training sessions after school. At the same time, he is given opportunity to spread important preemptive information about HIV and teenage pregnancy during these activities. We have also sponsored WayoWayo by donating collected sport equipment.
Uganda
The Fortress in Kampala, Uganda
In Uganda, there is an on-call home for pregnant teenage girls called ‘The Fortress’. Our founder Monica visited the home in fall of 2017 to give education and maternal health services.
Nepal
Home of Hope in Ratankot, Nepal
Home of Hope is a children’s home which is pursued by the Lööf Foundation. Our founder went there on several different occassions to participate in primary care and education. During her visits, our founder performed health examinations on the children, and acted as school nurse, midwife, and district nurse. She also taught the villagers in self-care and developed routines which would prevent ill health.
